Frequently asked questions
All of my cakes and cupcakes are produced in an environment where gluten, nuts, milk and eggs are present. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that a product will be 100% free from any of these or other allergens. I am able to make cakes for clients with intolerances or for dietary preferences but I do not cater for clients or guests with severe allergies as our kitchen is not a certified allergy free work space.
Orders are baked and decorated fresh to order in my home kitchen. My kitchen has been inspected, receiving a 5 from the local authorities for food and hygiene rating.
I use only the very best ingredients available, including free range eggs, British butter, flour and sugar, Callebaut chocolate and all-natural fruits, spices and other flavourings, including organic Madagascan vanilla.
As general guidance, cakes should be eaten within 3 days from delivery/collection date if stored covered in a cool dry place. Cakes should be wrapped well or stored in an air tight container once cut and kept in the fridge. Remove from the fridge for at least an hour to allow to come to room temperature when required.
Cupcakes should be eaten as soon as you can, ideally within 24 hours of collection and preferably within 2 days. Cupcakes taste best when eaten at room temperature.
All booking fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable except in exceptional circumstances, for example, if we are unable to fulfil your order as agreed.
Any amendments need to be made two full months before the wedding date to allow for changes to our schedule, and cannot be guaranteed. Significant amendments may incur an additional cost, and the balance will be adjusted accordingly.
In the event of a cancellation by yourselves, charges are as follows;
§ More than sixty days prior to the date = booking fee only.
§ Sixty days to one calendar month prior to the date = booking fee plus half the remaining cost.
§ Less than one calendar month prior to the date = full amount
§ Any booking fees previously paid are non-refundable.
For details on postponement see Terms and Conditions.
This depends on if you are planning to serve your guests their cake as dessert or in the evening. My wedding portions are defined as 1" x 1" x 5-6" tall and a dessert portion is 1" x 2" x 5-6" tall.

If you are serving your cake in the evening, I recommend allowing for around 75-80% of your guest numbers to have a slice of cake as not everyone will eat cake.
To cater for larger groups while opting for a smaller display cake, additional portions can be served from a cutting cake by your catering team in the kitchen, provided by Jo's Cake House.
